We have been receiving many inquiries about the differences between SculpSure and CoolSculpting. While they are both designed to permanently destroy fat cells in a targeted area, there are 4 major differences we considered when determining the best non-invasive fat reduction treatment to offer our clients.
The first and most significant difference is the method used to destroy the targeted fat cells. SculpSure uses light-based technology to heat up and destroy the subcutaneous fat cells, while CoolSculpting uses a controlled cooling or a “chill” effect to reduce the fat cells. The advantage of using heat is that it will dissipate into surrounding areas so that it cannot leave an indentation or “shark bite”.
A second distinction between the two devices is the treatment area that can be targeted. The SculpSure device has four applicators which can be placed on multiple treatment areas simultaneously. CoolSculpting utilizes one large applicator. The four applicators of SculpSure allow us to customize each treatment to each client.
The third major difference is the amount of time spent getting the procedure done. A SculpSure treatment on one targeted area, which includes four applicators, can be performed in 25 minutes. Conversely, a CoolSculpting procedure typically takes 60 minutes.
Finally, we want to offer treatments that are effective and as comfortable as possible. Clients can easily tolerate the SculpSure treatment and we can make adjustments to make sure they are comfortable without compromising the efficacy of the treatment. After a SculpSure treatment, clients can resume their normal activities immediately. CoolSculpting requires massaging of the resulting frozen mass which is quite uncomfortable. There is also the potential for nerve pain and damage with CoolSculpting.
After reviewing the pros and cons of each device, we chose SculpSure because we felt it would provide the most effective and comfortable experience for our clients. For clients interested in minimally invasive fat reduction, we are also proud to offer SmartLipo Laser Lipolysis.
