Cellulite tends to appear with age and is not necessarily associated with poor diet or lack of exercise. In fact, approximately 9 out of 10 women will have cellulite at some point in their lives. At Fine Arts Skin & Laser Aesthetic Plastic Surgery in Dover, OH, our team of professionals provides women with QWO injections for cellulite reduction. Dr. David M. Hartman and the rest of the team have been serving patients throughout Dover, Cleveland, Columbus, and Akron, OH, as well as those in Pittsburgh, PA to dramatically decrease moderate to severe cellulite and improve skin texture and appearance.

What is QWO?

QWOis an injection used to treat moderate to severe cellulite. Cellulite displays in a dimple-like, lumpy pattern across the skin. The injection is designed to reduce cellulite, particularly in the buttocks, for adult women. At Fine Arts Skin & Laser Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, we'll administer QWO in a three-step process, three different injections 21 days apart to achieve optimal results.

Will QWO injections help reduce cellulite?

QWO injections are known for reducing moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks. The enzymes in the injection, collagenases, work to break down the buildup of collagen in the fibrous bands that strap down fatty tissue and cause a dimpled pattern on the skin. Once the fibrous bands break, the fatty tissue under the skin can reorganize, and the skin smoothes out with the help of new collagen production.

Am I an ideal candidate for QWO injections?

Adult women with moderate to severe cellulite located on the buttocks are excellent candidates for QWO injections. Dr. Hartman or his designee will perform a thorough initial examination and collects each patient’s personal history to help determine if the QWO injection is right for them. Patients who are pregnant, want to become pregnant, have a blood disorder, or who have other specified medical conditions may not qualify for QWO injections. Patients who are allergic to collagenase are not suitable candidates for injections.

How do QWO treatments work?

QWO injections are provided in one of our private treatment rooms at Fine Arts Skin & Laser Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. The treatment area(s) is properly sanitized, and the injection is administered. Patients can expect bruising at the injection site, as well as redness, itching, discoloration, swelling, pain, and warmth around the treatment area. Side effects usually last less than three weeks.

How long will it take to notice results?

Since QWO injections are a three-step process, patients can expect results to appear after approximately ten weeks. Results include decreased lumpiness and smoother skin. Once the patient has received the third injection, our team will schedule a follow-up 28 days later to monitor the skin and assess the patient’s results.
