Which Cosmetic Injectables You Should Get and Why
Cosmetic injectables are a popular way to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, especially among people who are reluctant to undergo surgery. And while some brands are more popular than others, it can be tough to decide which are right for your anti-aging goals.
Fine Arts Skin & Laser provides a wide range of wrinkle relaxers and dermal fillers so patients achieve a youthful and refreshed appearance long-term. Specifically, we offer BOTOX®, Dysport®, Jeuveau®, Restylane®, Revanesse® Versa™, RHA® by Revance, and Bellafill® in Dover, OH. Dr. David Hartman and our talented team of nurse injectors provide an overview of these unique brands and how they work below.
What are my options for wrinkle relaxers?
Wrinkle relaxers like BOTOX, Dysport, and Jeuveau are neuromodulators. This means they work by temporarily blocking nerve signals to the muscles that cause wrinkles. The overlying skin appears smoother and younger when these muscles can't contract.
Neuromodulators contain the same active ingredient (botulinum toxin type A) and are used to produce the same results. The main difference is that brands are manufactured by different companies and may come in different formulations. Here are some common areas we treat with wrinkle relaxers:
Frown lines: Also called glabellar lines or “11 lines” – these vertical lines show up between the eyebrows and make people appear angry or worried.
Forehead lines: Horizontal lines across the forehead can make individuals look tired or stressed out.
Crow’s feet: These lines appear around the outer corners of the eyes when we laugh or squint.
“Bunny lines:” These wrinkles appear on the upper part of the nose, often when we scrunch up our noses.
Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders: When administered into the masseter muscle, neuromodulators relieve jaw tenderness, headaches, and facial pain.
What are my options for dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are injectables that add fresh volume to the skin. Restylane, Revanesse Versa, and RHA by Revance are popular anti-aging brands at Fine Arts Skin & Laser in Dover, OH. They contain hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance in the body. HA fillers last for six months to a year based on the specific product and where it is injected.
While wrinkle relaxers address dynamic wrinkles (those that appear when we make facial expressions), dermal fillers are used to fill in hollow or thin areas as well as static wrinkles (lines that are visible even when the face is at rest). Areas that can be treated with fillers include the cheeks, nasolabial folds, chin, jaws, lips, and tear troughs.
Bellafill is a new and exciting dermal filler now offered at Fine Arts Skin & Laser. This product works by stimulating long-term collagen production so patients can maintain a youthful look for up to five years. Ask more about Bellafill during a consultation with Dr. Hartman and/or a nurse injector.
Why choose cosmetic injectables?
There are many reasons to choose cosmetic injectables over options like plastic surgery. Injections are less invasive, so they come with fewer risks. They can also be performed in a single office visit. And since injectables don’t require any downtime, you may resume normal activities immediately afterward. Our staff will develop a personalized treatment plan for you during an assessment.
