Results That Last
Dr. David M. Hartman and his experienced team provide a wide range of dermal filler products to help correct signs of facial aging, addressing lines, wrinkles, and lost volume. Restylane is a popular brand of injectable wrinkle fillers since it treats many issues with specialized formulas for results that last. It is made with a synthetic version of the body's natural hyaluronic acid (HA), providing the skin a natural, softer appearance that is fuller and more supple. A custom treatment plan can correct mild, moderate, or severe facial lines and wrinkles, as well as add volume to the lips and cheeks. Fine Arts Skin & Laser Facial Plastic Surgery carries many Restylane dermal fillers, such as:
When applied with care at our Dover, OH facility, Restylane can improve the texture of the skin, enhance desirable contours, and more.

Ideal Candidates
Adults who are older than 21, who are in good physical, mental, and emotional health, and who are not allergic to hyaluronic acid products are good candidates for Restylane. Pregnant women and people with bleeding disorders, skin diseases, inflammatory conditions, or infections around the treatment site are not advised to choose Restylane.
Causes
Facial aging is attributed to two main processes: intrinsic aging (also referred to as chronologic aging) and extrinsic aging. Intrinsic aging is linked to internal factors, such as biological processes slowing. Extrinsic aging is related to external, environmental causes, such as ultraviolet radiation from the sun. Hyaluronic acid is a gelatinous sugar molecule that gives the skin its supple, soft, firm appearance in youth. The molecule occurs naturally throughout the body, providing cushioning and lubrication for joint cartilage, tissues, and eyes. It is most highly concentrated in the skin, where its loss due to intrinsic aging causes skin quality to deteriorate.
Many people experience chronic dryness and see lines develop in the skin as their levels of hyaluronic acid drop. With less hyaluronic acid, there is less fullness but an increased risk of wrinkle formation. At the same time, the production of collagen and elastin (proteins that maintain the youthful structure of the skin) also declines. Some of the external aspects that cause harm to the skin include UV radiation, the force of gravity, cigarette smoke, and pollution. Lifestyle factors and bad habits can also play a major role in accelerating the aging process. The combined result of intrinsic and extrinsic aging results in skin that is weakened, dehydrated, wrinkled, and droopy.
Procedure
Restylane is administered as an outpatient procedure, and the entire session lasts anywhere from 15 – 45 minutes. Once injected directly into the treatment area with a fine needle or cannula, Restylane binds to and retains water in the dermal layer to produce volume. It fills in wrinkles and sunken areas and can add a subtle improvement to facial symmetry. To ensure Restylane is evenly distributed, Dr. Hartman or a member of his clinical team may gently massage the area after making the injections.
"Dr. Hartman's Super-Professional Surgical Nurse - Previously I’ve posted rave reviews about Dr. Hartman (he did my face lift, lipo 2 times, lip filler, laser) but this review is about Laura, his scrub nurse. Laura is calm, composed and very smart. Her knowledge about plastic surgery is vast. During my procedures, Laura always anticipated what I needed before I needed to ask. She and Dr. Hartman’s teamwork is flawless. And, boy oh boy, can Lau..."

Recovery
Some variations of Restylane contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic that helps to numb the area and reduce discomfort during the injection session. The majority of Restylane patients experience only minor side effects during the first week after their injections, including some swelling, redness, and slight bruising. To maintain optimal results over time, Dr. Hartman or a member of his clinical team usually recommends scheduling additional follow-up treatments. The results last around 10 months to one year, on average.
Fine Arts Skin & Laser - Introduction Video
Costs for Restylane treatments will be based on several things, like which formula is used, where it is used, how much filler is needed, and more. In your consultation, your injector will listen to your areas of concern before developing a personalized Restylane treatment plan. From there, costs can be estimated, and we can review payment options.
There may be some discomfort as the fine needle is injected under your skin. Prior to your treatment, a local anesthetic can be applied to help you feel more comfortable. After your injections, we will apply a cold compress to minimize swelling and bruising.
