Community Outreach
Dr. Hartman & Fine Arts Skin & Laser is committed to providing support to important programs that benefit our local community in Tuscarawas County, Ohio, such as the Harbor House Domestic Violence Shelter and A New Haven. Helping raise awareness and support for these programs is near and dear to the hearts of every member of our team. With over 38,000 reported incidents of domestic violence in Ohio each year, domestic violence effects entire families and is often hidden behind closed doors. We want to do our part to help end the violence and support survivors.
About Harbor House Domestic Violence Shelter
Harbor House Domestic Violence Shelter provides a variety of inpatient and outpatient services including safe shelter, case management, assistance with protection orders and counseling referrals. Harbor House also operates a 24/7, confidential domestic violence crisis hotline that individuals can call for immediate assistance. The number for the hotline is 330-364-1374. A trained victim advocate on duty at the Harbor House will answer the call and ask if the caller is in a safe place to talk. The advocate will then work with the caller to connect them to the appropriate resources. The Harbor House Domestic Violence Shelter of Tuscarawas County is operated by Personal and Family Counseling Services of New Philadelphia, an affiliate of Ohio Guidestone.
About A New Haven
A New Haven helps Harbor House clients rebuild their lives with dignity. When clients transition from the shelter to their own subsidized housing, they do not have any of the items needed to start a home such as bedding, dishes, silverware, cookware, towels, lamps, and small appliances. This program is designed to provide all the basic items for an entire household, allowing the client to focus instead on school or work and providing for their family rather than worrying about these basic necessities. Along with household items, each family needs furniture once they transition. A New Haven will provide a complete furniture package of new and gently used living room, dining room, and bedroom furniture. A New Haven is an all-volunteer initiative and a community service program of Ohio Guidestone.
